CAST

DIXON CASHWELL

COLBY BATES

DIXON CASHWELL has appeared in Richmond Shakespeare’s All’s Well that Ends Well (Lavatch), Compleat Wrks… (Hamlet Track), and Doctor Faustus (Robin; RTCC Award winner for Best Supporting Actor). He has also appeared in Theatrelab’s Bootycandy (Actor 5), and was in one episode of Legends and Lies on Fox & Friends as Dr. Charles Leale, but he forgot to get paid for it. Like his ID was expired at the time of shooting so when the payroll guy was like “you need two forms of ID for the contract,” Dixon couldn’t make it happen on the day and then forgot to email anyone after. It wasn’t like a crazy amount or anything, it was like $400, but now it’s like he did a show on Fox & Friends for free. Like he deferred payment. Like he was like “no, no-- no need for money, I believe in this product and Fox & Friends as a whole” or something. At one point in the episode he takes Abraham Lincoln’s pulse and then says “gentlemen, the president is dead.

Mahlon Raoufi (he/they)

DIRECTOR

Mahlon Raoufi (he/they) - Mahlon has co-directed and assistant directed in the past telling all kinds of stories. From the golden age classic Seven Brides for Seven Brothers: about feral frontiersmen abducting their betrothed wives, to a one act called One In Four (written by Richmond's own Elle Meerovich!) about four aliens navigating the intricacies of coexisting with roommates. Now Mahlon is making his directorial debut with Rich Beyond Our Wildest Dreams and the play title couldn't be more of a description on how he's feeling about this opportunity.

A transplant from Herndon, VA, Mahlon ventured Richmond's way where he attended and graduated from VCU in 2015 with a BFA in Theatre Performance. He appeared in multiple mainstages, some of his favorites being Man of La Mancha (Sancho), Arabian Nights (Ali Baba), and Avenue Q (Trekkie Monster), and even started making a home in the Richmond theatre community performing in Richmond Triangle Player's productions of bare: a pop opera (2013 RTCC Winner for Best Musical) and Cabaret. Eventually Mahlon decided to take his expertise to New York where he lived for 4 years doing background work for multiple projects such as The Marvelous Ms. Maisel, Gotham, The Deuce, Mr. Robot and even had the chance to appear in a CollegeHumor rap music video featuring First Lady Michelle Obama and SNL/VCU alum Jay Pharaoh. Mahlon also dabbled in the stand-up/sketch comedy world performing at The People's Improv Theatre's 2017 Sketchfest and taking classes with The Upright Citizens Brigade taught by Stephanie Bencin. He also worked on an original play called Babel written by Sevan K. Greene in conjunction with the 2019 Rough Draft Festival at LaGuardia Community College. Due to the pandemic Mahlon made his way back to Richmond in 2021 and it's been home ever since. Recent Richmond credits include How I Learned to Drive (The Conciliation Lab), Native Gardens (Cadence Theatre), Water by the Spoonful (Firehouse Theatre) and A Distinct Society (Firehouse Theatre).

Mahlon is honored to be working with and directing his best friend, Dixon, and wants to thank 5th Wall Theatre along with Juliana Caycedo, KP Longoria, Matt Mitchell, the talented cast & crew, and his lovely wife Michaela for all the support and patience while he took his first director steps.

A Note from the

Artistic Director of

5th Wall Theatre

When Juliana first approached me last year about wanting to produce Rich Beyond Our Wildest Dreams and learn more about the producing process, I was excited to help in any way I could. Having once been in a similar position myself, I understand the value of asking questions, learning from others, and having support along the way.

From those early conversations, 5th Wall In Practice was born, a program rooted in access, support, and the belief that artists deserve the tools and space to bring their visions fully to life. To see this initiative begin with this bold, inventive production has been incredibly meaningful.

It has been an honor to learn and grow alongside this team throughout the process. I offer my sincerest congratulations to Juliana Caycedo, Mahlon Raoufi, Dixon Cashwell, Emily Berry, and the entire production team on creating such thoughtful, fearless work. You should be so proud of what you have built.

Thank you for allowing 5th Wall to be part of your journey and for helping launch what we hope will be many more artist driven productions to come.
