About the Play

Tambo and Bones are stuck in a minstrel show or maybe they’re headlining the hottest rap concert of the century. Either way, they’re done playing by the rules. What starts with satirical sketches morphs into a hip hop fueled rebellion that rips through American history and launches into a mind bending Afrofuturist vision of the future.

Tambo & Bones is a riotous, razor sharp thrill ride that crashes comedy into revolution and dares you to keep up.

Casting Breakdown

TAMBO

Black, he/him/his, 20s–30s. Charismatic, intelligent, sharp-witted, and emotionally layered. A survivor and strategist. Must possess strong command of language and rhythm. Musicality and movement experience are a plus.

BONES

Black, he/him/his, 20s–30s. Playful, impulsive, magnetic, and deeply human. A dreamer and performer with strong comedic instincts and emotional depth. Musicality and movement experience are a plus.

X-BOT 1

White, he/him/his. 20s- 30s. A humanoid robot built to resemble a white actor. Maintains a distinctly robotic physicality and movement style.

X-BOT 2

White, he/him/his. 20s- 30s. A humanoid robot built to resemble a white actor. Maintains a distinctly robotic physicality and movement style.

Compensation

All positions are paid.

What to Prepare

For the Audition please prepare the following: 

• One contemporary monologue.

For those Auditioning for TAMBO or BONES please also prepare:

• 16 bars of your favorite rap song or spoken word poem. Feel free to perform original work.

Callbacks may include cold readings from the script, movement work, improvisation, and music.
