Carol Piersol, Founding Artistic Director of the Firehouse Theatre Project, and Billy Christopher Maupin, a renowned Richmond actor and director, joined forces and began producing and presenting theatrical productions in the Richmond area as an independent entity. In this brief period of time they produced four acclaimed productions in four different Richmond venues. These productions are:
- Breast In Show, book by Lisa Hayes, music and lyrics by Joan Cushing, conceived by Eileen Mitchard, was presented in partnership with Virginia Repertory Theatre in March, 2013. This humorous and poignant musical about breast cancer explored issues facing breast cancer patients, their families and friends.
- The Richmond Theatre Critics Award winning Gidion’s Knotby Johnna Adams and performed at HATT Theatre in May 2013. The play deals with the issues of student bullying and suicide.
- Race by David Mamet in partnership with African American Repertory Theatre and performed at Virginia Rep’s Theatre Gym in November 2013. This play explores the issue of racial discrimination in day to day life and in the legal system.
- Patti Issuesby Ben Rimalower, in partnership with Richmond Triangle Players in March 2014. This one-person- play addresses a young man’s obsession with diva Patti Lupone as well as his struggle with his own sexuality and his relationship with his father.
